Description: 
Jose Vilson reflects on the success of rapper Jay-Z and shares parallel lessons that can be applied to teaching. Specifically, Vilson cites Jay-Z’s ability to adapt to the needs of his audience, learn from his mistakes, collaborate, and seek out new opportunities. Vilson encourages teachers to become proactive instead of waiting for systemic change. In doing so, teachers become leaders and give themselves greater voice in school change and improvement initiatives.
